10 K

A WALK IN A PARK Michael Cheah, our resident Personal Trainer, explores why it is important to walk 10K steps a day. Did you know a human being burns an average of 500 calories a day if they walk 10,000 steps (this rule isn't written in stone because the answer depends on factors such as your intensity, weight, body fat percentage, muscle mass and age)? And studies and have shown that one pound of body fat equals to about 3500 calories. That means completing 10,000 steps each day typically burns about 2000 to 3500 calories each week which translates into a pound of fat loss each week To achieve an optimal level of fitness, I would recommend you to pay your doctor a visit, to check these three things: • Is the level of your thyroid stimulating hormone (TSH) normal? • Are your hormones balanced? Testing your hormones using saliva testing rather than blood testing is more accurate • Are your adrenals normal? There are three types of adrenal testing (blood or saliva or dried urine testing) - ask your doctor which test is the best for you. Only if all three (thyroid, hormones and adrenals) are normal and balanced then effective fat loss can take place with a balanced eating plan and exercise.
