A MESSAGE FROM DAN DURKIN

Dear Members, As the world cautiously returns to normalcy, and with the resurgence of air travel, we can finally have our long- awaited festive get-together with family and friends from all over the world. This year, we’ve taken Merr y & Bright as the theme for our year-end celebrations as those three words have the ability to paint a vivid picture of an idyllic festive season. We may not be able to experience a white Christmas here in Singapore, but we can cer tainly strive to make ever ything a little more merr y and bright for those we love during this time. The Club always comes alive this time of the year, as we’ve prepared a whole host of wonderful activities, offerings and meals for you from Thanksgiving to the New Year’s. As you peruse the guide, you’ll see that festive merriments await, with hear ty roasts, mouth-watering desser ts, luxurious festive gifts & decor, and family-friendly activities. This year, we see the return of Stamford American International School Choir performing a medley of classic Christmas carols at the Club’s Tree Lighting Evening – an annual tradition that many of our Members and their families look forward to. Speaking of Christmas carols, here’s a fun fact about me. Did you know that Christmas carols are my favorite genre of music? There’s a specific subset of these songs that is undoubtedly superior to others

of their kind – the classics from the Golden Age of Christmas Music. These songs from the 1940s and 1950s signal a time where festive music moved out of the churches and onto the radio, where they eventually became pop songs in their own right. White Christmas is the 700lb Gorilla of this form of music, and is still the best selling single of all time! The song reaches a crescendo with Bing Crosby crooning: “May your days be Merr y and Bright, And may all your Christmases be white.” Whether you’re enter taining at home or at the Club, we have something special for you, your families and others in your life this coming holiday season. We look forward to being the backdrop of your cherished memories and we wish you a Merr y & Bright year ahead!

ABOUT CHEF YENI Now in her 11th year with the Club, Chef Yeni has risen through the ranks to become one of the Club’s female Team Members in a leadership position. Preparations for the Club’s festive celebrations start as early as August each year, giving the team ample time to develop new and innovative festive-themed pastries and cakes. Over the years, Chef Yeni has headlined numerous Club-wide events with her wondrous bakes, such as the Club’s festive celebrations and annual Club birthday cake-cutting. She hopes to be able to continue creating magical moments for Members through her delightful pastries and desserts.
