Claymore Entrance Updates

The Claymore Entrance design was created together with the input of the Design Review Committee (now Project Stakeholder Group), staff, management, Member volunteers, the architects, and the interior design team. Key Design Priorities These were the identified key priorities when designing the Claymore entrance.

Large enough canopy to keep people dry in most conditions

Ramp wide enough for strollers or wheelchairs

REDEVELOPMENT UPDATES

The new Claymore Entrance incorporates several design features: Seating under the awning for those waiting for taxis or pick ups Blend in with the look and feel of the Club exterior The five trees outside on Claymore Road will remain as per a directive from the National Parks Board. For that reason, one of the trees will grow through a space cut out of the canopy. The canopy is a permanent feature made out of steel and heat strengthened, tempered glass. The canopy extends out until the end of the planter boxes. It is not able to extend over the sidewalk per government mandate, as that is public land and would limit the turning radius of large vehicles. Bench seating has been incorporated into the planter boxes, as many people previously used these for seating. There is a gradual ramp on the right side of the staircase. The ramp is wide enough to accommodate a stroller or wheelchair. It is lined by two railings for those who need support while walking. The entrance to the ramp faces the guardhouse area, so that it provides easy access from the carpark. There is also a ramp entrance from the taxi area, so you can enter directly from Claymore Hill. The taxi stand will remain in its old location when the Claymore Entrance opens. The entrance and exit to the carpark will also remain the same. There will be a fire engine hardstanding to the left of the canopy when you're facing the Club. The hardstanding is a government requirement and will be incorporated into the landscape.

Final Claymore Entrance Design The above is the Claymore Entrance design that was reviewed by the Project Stakeholder Committee and was approved by the Project Control Group and the General Committee. This is the design that is being built.
