2. When arcade games run free of charge it is very difficult for Members and their children to have fair access to the games they wish to play. Some children will stay on machines for long periods of time and this practice is frustrating for other Members and challenging for staff to manage. 3. The Club had arcade gaming in the past and it was chargeable. Only in more recent pre-redevelopment history were these much older, out-of-date, arcades made free, largely due to their age and inconsistent performance. The arcade games we have now are brand new, some imported directly from the United States and unique to Singapore. The practice of charging for arcade gaming is also consistent across other comparable social clubs. Why can’t my child who is 4.5-years-old play at the Wallholla? She has been to other indoor playgrounds like Amazonia and GoGo Bambini. The Wallholla is a vertical climb of about 6 levels. Children are required to be independent as adults are not permitted in the space. The Club decided to err on the side of caution and only allow kids 6-years-old and above into the Wallholla when it was first opened. After much trial and error, The Club will be going with the manufacturer’s recommendation to allow kids 5-years-old and above into the Wallholla from March 1 onwards. Why are my Guests charged at The Quad? The Y&F Committee prioritized Member usage in the space, and wants to ensure that Members are able to access The Quad whenever they desire. To manage compaction and to discourage misuse to the new activities, Guest fees have been introduced at The Quad, although this initiative is not new to The Club. Guest fees are applicable at the Gym, Spa, buffets, youth camps etc. and were created to ensure that the preponderance of Members’ children is not compromised. That said, The Club is happy to trial new Guest fees for the next few months before re-assessing the needs of Members. Guest fees are now at a flat rate of $2.50 per entry during off-peak hours, and $5 per entry during peak hours (Friday evenings, Saturdays, Sundays, Eve and day of Public Holidays). Guest fees were previously priced at $5 per 30 minutes during both off-peak and peak hours. Why do I have to pay for child-minding at The Quad Poolside? Child-minding is not chargeable for Off-Peak hours and charges for Members’ helpers are now waived. Child- minding charges are only applicable during Peak periods including weekends and public holidays as there’s a limited capacity in The Quad. Charges were removed during redevelopment due to low volume usage at the temporary space. Prior to redevelopment, helpers at The Zone Poolside also had to pay a Guest fee, and we have now waived all charges for Members’ helpers. Do I really have to sign my child into The Quad Poolside & The Quad? All parents must be present to sign in their children to The Quad and The Quad Ppoolside. For children below 12, parents have to be on Club premises while the child is at The Quad. Your authorized helper or amah may bring your child in for Club sponsored classes and supervised programs and events (such as camp and parties) but is not allowed to sign your child into The Quad or The Quad Poolside for free play, as per The Club’s bylaws section 1.5.1(b) titled “Amahs”. Where do I send my feedback? The Quad is still fairly new, and the Y&F Committee is working very closely with Management to listen and act on the feedback we have received so far. We are looking for solutions that work best for both our Members and staff. Please feel free to write a comment card at the Youth Desk or drop us a line at youth@amclub.org.sg. Bylaws section 1.5.1(b) - “Amahs” The Zone Quad Poolside and The Quad Chillout area. Upon authorization by the Member, amahs are permitted to remain in The Quad Poolside or The Quad Chillout area without being in the physical presence of their employer-Member while children under their care are participating in The Quad Poolside or The Quad Chillout area activities. Standard The Zone Quad Poolside charges apply, even if the amah is present. The Member must remain in The Club at all times and the amah may not participate in classes, supervised programs of events (i.e. their physical presence is permitted but their participation is not). Only a Member may sign in a child to the The Quad Poolside or The Quad Chillout area.
