With the Olympics nearly behind us and Christmas around the corner, we can’t help but sense 2022 is going to be a bigger and better year. That said, The American Club swim team wants to thank everyone for their suppor t and wel l wishes over these past 18 months of disruption during uncer tain times. It’s been a chal lenging period for everyone and especial ly our junior Members - from home-based learning, isolated from friends to having several activities being cancel led. Welcome to the new normal for our junior Members, who are learning to navigate al l these whi le prepping for their exams. Despite al l these chal lenges, 2021 welcomed back the Olympics. The much-anticipated games was something we needed to motivate our weary Junior Members - the Olympics showed that spor t can be the equal izer that provides distraction and the celebration of what humans can overcome with perseverance and hard work. Watching the different swimming matches have inspired them. It also showed them that during each training session, this was a time and place where their worries could wash away. Coach Greg Fasala shared his thoughts on the past Tokyo Olympics Games, and The Club's swim team: "I'm very proud of our swimmers here at the club, as adults the disruptions and uncer tainty over the past 18 months has been unsettl ing, to say the least, but as a parent of teenagers and seeing our junior members working hard at school and their continued commitment to their swimming training, it's a testament to their resolve and courage and how our chi ldren can adapt."

Swim for thought: during the Olympics, training sessions were stopped to watch the matches and to cheer on swimmers l ike Katie Ladecky and other swim heroes that produced excel lent swims. The Olympics al low our Junior Members to witness others achieving record-breaking results gives hope that the best is achievable and on its way for those that work hard. Welcome to their world. The aquatics program is bigger and better than ever as restrictions slowly l ift. Learn to Swim, Junior Group and private swimming lessons are avai lable, along with Adult and Junior / Senior swim squads.
