S/N Item 1.

a. Chair called the meeting to order at 10.05am. Chair then handed over to AP to discuss the meeting’s agenda. A) Club Incidents a. For fiscal year to date, October has the highest number of incidents reported with a total of 14. As for November, Member incidents mainly involved sports injuries happening in the tennis courts and at quads. AP suggested for coaches to conduct safety briefings and reminders especially to children, occasionally. RC said rate is pretty low compared to the amount of activities Club conducts, however WSH aims for “zero incident”. b. Few incidents involving the pool gratings were also reported. As the gratings were plastic, they have become brittle and breaks when stepped on. With this, NM recommended for CAPEX to change the gratings every three years and to have regular inspection. NM said they are getting thicker gratings, further to ANs suggestion on getting better quality. DD also suggested for concrete gratings instead of plastic which is being considered as per NM, though costly. As of the moment, immediate remedy is to replace all gratings which NM and MJ are currently looking into. c. Health conditions also added to member related incident report which are beyond Club’s controls. d. Staff incident on the other hand recorded only 1 minor incident involving STF which is the trending incident currently. AP also mentioned a recent incident which involved a staff using his phone while taking the staircase. This will be highlighted in next month’s campaign. e. Overall and based on projection, Club may wind up with a higher rate by end of FY compared to previous year. However, there is n’t a precise comparison vs pre-Covid, and that Club has better reporting system this year as well. Additionally, majority of incidents involved members while staff related incidents, which WSH focuses on, is still good as it is below industry trend. The Club also reports comprehensively and holistically, including both members and staff, thus the high number. In summary, Club is doing well as we only have minor incidents reported and that any trending incidents will be raised immediately. f. For the Sick Leave Report on paid medical, hospitalization and work injury, updated data for November on average reported a significant improvement compared to January to October of

S/N Item 1.

a. Chair called the meeting to order at 10.05am and welcomed Mylene, Stanley and Crystal to the WSH Committee. Chair then handed over to AP to discuss the meeting’s agenda. A) Club Incidents a. AP shared that the meeting was called to address WSH Council’s strong message on the alarming spike of workplace death incidents in SG, as discussed during the WSH Conference he attended last week. The Council called out the need for all team leaders to review processes and ensure that we operate in a safe environment and therefore eliminating further incidents. ACOP (Approved Code of Practice), which will take place in October, is WSH’s and MOM ’ s response to this alarming workplace deaths. b. Club incidents are still mostly comprised of Member incidents involving sports injuries (taekwondo, tennis & gym) and injuries that occurred outside the Club wherein first-aid were rendered. Cuts sustained from damaged Club furniture & equipment were also reported. AP requested for Team Leaders to review their respective outlets’ equipment & facilities prior to opening their outlets to identify any potential hazard/s. c. Meanwhile, staff incidents also recorded cuts resulting from hasty operations. Again, AP urged Team Leaders to allot time to inspect their working areas prior to start of operations. Health issues and injuries outside the club as well as slips, trips and falls (STF) also comprised the rest of staff incidents. AP further shared that STF is now the no.1 workplace incident in Singapore. Though harmless, this cannot be neglected as they cause long term injuries. d. In comparison from previous year, the incidents may be small in number, however, we may end up with the same level as last year ’s based from the projection. e. AP reminded everyone to look at our surroundings and address any hazards and not to rush and to think of safety all the time.

3. B) ACOP (Approved Code of Practice) – Code of Practice on Workplace Safety and Health (WSH) Risk Management a. AP shared the following information as discussed from last week’s WSH Conference:

AP further shared that though fatalities were mainly in construction industry, we cannot be complacent as what could be a mere incident could lead to a fatality (cited a hotel incident that happened 4 years ago). The number of fatalities is very serious as this involves lives and families. ACOP also entails higher accountability on management for fines and non-compliance. AP further informed that Club should review work processes and to work with BizSafe vendors.

b. AP also discussed about ACOP principles as follows:

With the above principles, AP asked that Team leaders incorporate safety whenever possible during team briefings. Furthermore, principle 4 empowers staff to participate in WSH activities, allowing staff to speak out without being penalized.

c. Presently, below are the current WSH programs that the Club runs:

2

These programs however, don’t seem enough as these don’t reach a lot of our staff and they don’t feel empowered enough to be part of our safety culture. d. To further boost these measures, WSH will introduce few more initiatives as presented below:

e. With these added initiatives, WSH continues to explore various communication platforms to reach a broader audience. f. RC commended AP for a great presentation and asked for a copy to present to GC and other standing Committees, in a more condensed format. RC suggested to send communications and messages in different languages and hard copies for those without access to emails. He also

3

mentioned about seeking feedback & consultations with staff on what risk or hazards they face and how to improve things, especially for those involved in manual handling. RC also raised that PDPA should fall under WSH as Club holds personal data of staff, and regularly assuring them that data are secured especially with the global issue on data theft and security. RC again stressed that safety should be the first agenda in every team meeting. g. RC also asked on Club’s status and on how we are benchmarking with ACOP. AP assured that the Club, being BizSafe certified, has covered everything under ACOP. What resonates to us is that we have to communicate more and integrate these practices in our business decisions. AP further shared that the government had come up with this as some industries, especially those operating in high- risk environment are not even BizSafe certified and don’t have risk management. C) Team Wellness a. Team Wellness participation for the 1 st Quarter, with Accounts clocking the highest number of participants, followed by Front Office and Housekeeping:

D. AOB

a. AP stressed on the timely reporting of incidents and highlighted that staff do not report to work if unwell and on MCs. b. On First Aid boxes, AP asked that outlets look into the expiry dates of the items and make sure that items are sufficient for operations. c. Mylene asked how often meetings are conducted. AP said EXCO are on monthly basis, while the WSH Committee is quarterly. This quarterly meeting would’ve been in October except that ACOP matters need to be addressed urgently. d. Mylene also suggested that HODs should cascade this information during their department meetings to make it more impactful, stressing the importance of workplace safety. She also recommended the physical distribution of this info by HODs for those staff who doesn’t have access to digital info. e. AP thanked Mylene for echoing the essence of ACOP and once again expressed that this should be part of every team meeting’s agenda. AP also shared that posters are displayed in strategic places around the club for staff awareness on the various WSH programs as well as safety reminders especially for the elderlies. f. Mylene expressed PDs full support and participation in the upcoming WSH programs. g. In conclusion, Chair thanked AP for a very informative sharing, and everyone for their attendance and support.

AP shared that the past FY 2022 has had the lowest no. of incidents recorded in comparison to the last 3 years (2019-2021). Also, there were not much incidents for the past few months and the Club was fairly quiet. b. Member incidents comprised of sports injuries (happening mostly at the tennis courts) and injuries that occurred outside the Club wherein first-aid were rendered. Meanwhile, staff incidents mostly involved knife cuts, prevailing health issues (diabetes, high blood pressure, high cholesterol, etc.) & injuries outside the Club, as well as slips, trips and falls (non-serious). FY 22 doubled to 1498 versus average of 700+ from the last 3 years (2019- 2021). f. Though figures were hard to compare due to government restrictions, AP shared that should the basis be on pre-covid numbers, the Club averages about 700 sick leaves a year which is equivalent to 2 staff not working for the whole year. g. On the other hand, no record was available for unpaid medical via QuickHR for July-Dec 2021.
