Youth Space Update

REDEVELOPMENT UPDATES

THANK YOU TO EVERYONE WHO PARTICIPATED IN OUR RECENT YOUTH SPACE ALLOCATION SURVEY. WE ARE BUSY TABULATING THE RESULTS AND WILL SHARE THEM IN THE COMING WEEKS.

GENERAL YOUTH SPACE INFORMATION The Youth Space design and space allocation were created together with the input of the Youth focus groups, staff, Member volunteers, our Youth & Family Committee, management, the architects, and the interior design team. Based on the feedback received over many months, the following priorities were set for the new Youth Space. These priorities formed the basis of the Youth Space design.

The outdoor area / basketball space is currently being used as a construction staging area by the contractors. This space will be finished and opened after the redevelopment project. It will be a mixed-use space for both adults and children. The solution of stacking all of the Youth Space on the Scotts Road side of the building met an important redevelopment design criteria: It created an area of the Club for children that is somewhat separate from the rest of the Club. The new youth space is one stacked space. Because of this, the space can be used more effectively and creatively. Although the square footage comparison is similar, we were able to incorporate several exciting features into the area including a playhouse with a slide for toddlers and a two-story wallhola climbing play area.

FINAL YOUTH SPACE DESIGN The following is the Youth Space design that was approved by the Project Control Group and the General Committee. This is the design that is being built.
