Allison Liu Daisong INK IN ALIENATION

Exhibition period: July 1 – September 1, 2022

An artist, scholar and collector, Allison captured the world’s imagination with her contemporary take on traditional shan shui (landscape) painting, using the media of ink and color on paper. A stylish Chinese painting that dates back to the 6th century, shan shui is famous for employing a different perspective. Instead of being art for the eyes, shan shui is an object for the mind to ponder. Alienation, was a deconstructed structure that Allison developed since 2019 to explore the boundary of the abstract expression. Her creations are rich in colors. Black was often applied for example – a color that symbolizes elegance and power. Collectors from all over the world including Southeast Asia, China, Europe, Canada and USA, have acquired her art. Allison has authored numerous publications on her research on Asian art masters such as Lim Hak Tai, Chen Wen His, Cheong Soo Pieng, Liu Kuo-Sung and Yeo Hoe Koon. She is also a distinguished speaker at various universities, banks and government bodies in Singapore and China. Allison is currently pursuing her Ph.D. in Aesthetics at Renmin University of China.
